Specialty

Specialty programs for the risks standard markets pass on.

Builders risk, course of construction, vacant property, legal expense, professional E&O and trade credit, each placed through a program built for the risk. Send the file and an underwriter tells you where it fits.

The 60-second version

What you need to know before you call the client back.

Three answers for the broker with a client on the other line. The full guide is below for when you have ten minutes.

What a program is

A program is a set of underwriting rules, forms and limits built for one type of risk, so the right files place faster and on the right wording.

When to use one

When the standard market restricts or declines the risk: an empty house, a renovation, a new build, a professional class, a business that wants its legal costs covered.

What you send

The application or the key facts. The fit check on each program page tells you if it is worth sending today.

Why brokers use programs

  • Wordings built for the risk, not a standard form with exclusions bolted on.
  • Clear appetite, so you know a file fits before you send it.
  • Underwriters who see the same type of file every day.
  • One back-shop for the program and the rest of the account.

Warranty programs

Approved also places warranty programs. See warranty programs for details.
